THE GRAND MONASTERY is situated in Pamporovo, the largest resort in Rodopi Mountain , situated on 220 km from Sofia – the capital of Bulgaria, 85 km from Plovdiv and 85 from the Greek city Xanti. Regardless its location – 1650 m above the sea level, the climate there is soft even during the winter months, due to strong Mediterranean influence. The average annual temperature is 8,5 C and the thickness of snow cover is 140 – 150 m.
If you are a complete beginner skier, you cannot find a better place to learn to ski. Pamporovo ski school has the reputation of being one of the best ski-schools in Europe. Highly qualified instructors will provide every novice skier with an enjoyable learning process, while advanced skiers could hardly find a better place to improve their skills. The ski slopes in Pamporovo are so designed, as to guarantee the enjoyment of all levels of skiers – from green and blue slopes to help beginners to learn and build their confidence , to challenging red and black slopes for the advanced and intermediate skiers. The total length of the alpine skiing slopes is 37 km, but there are also 30 km of cross country trails. The ski resort is well equipped with modern facilities, including 8 T-bar lifts and 6 detachable chairlifts. Although there is enough natural snow the enjoyment of the skiers is guaranteed by snowmaking system, able to cover the slopes with artificial snow. |
